Nativity Of The Blessed Virgin Mary (and Prayer); 8th September.

The Bible doesn’t say anything about Mary’s birth, but we know that she was born. Like all parents, Mary’s parents—we

call them Joachim and Ann—probably took one look at their newborn daughter and knew that she was special.

Joachim and Ann loved God very much, and they were filled with gratitude to God for the gift of a child.

They raised Mary as a child of God, teaching her to love and serve God. When the angel Gabriel told Mary that she

had been chosen to be the Mother of Jesus, she already had great faith in God. Her strong faith and trust allowed her

to say yes to God’s plan for her. We cannot be certain what the future holds for any new born infant, but we do know

that the life of each person has meaning and purpose. When Mary was born, the world did not know who she was.

Sometimes others—and maybe even you—don’t see how special you are. Maybe you forget that God is calling you, too,

right now, to do what Mary did—to bring Jesus into the world.

When we celebrate his mother’s birth, we honor Jesus too. Today thank God for the gift of life, and give honor to

both Mary and Jesus by showing respect and concern for one another—remembering that God has created each person

with love and with a call to something very special in life.

Prayer for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Virgin immaculate, thou who by a singular privilege of grace wast preserved from original sin,

look in pity upon our separated brethren, who are nevertheless thy children, and call them back

to the center of unity. Not a few of them, although separated from the Church, have kept a certain

veneration for thee; and do thou, generous as thou art, reward them for it, by obtaining for them the grace of conversion.
Thou wast conqueror of the infernal serpent from the first instant of thy existence; renew even now,

for it is now more necessary than ever before, thine ancient triumphs; glorify thy divine Son, bring

back to Him the sheep that have strayed from the one fold and place them once more under the guidance

of the universal Shepherd who holds the place of thy Son on earth; let it be thy glory, O Virgin who destroyest

all heresies, to restore unity and peace once more to all the Christian people.

Jesus, I trust in You. Please grant through Your mother’s intercession that I may always bring Your hope into my family.

Jesus, I trust in You. Please grant through Your mother’s intercession that I may always bring Your love into my family.

Jesus, I trust in You. Please grant through Your mother’s intercession that I may always bring Your mercy into my family.

Our Lady, on this feast of your birth, please pray for stronger and holier marriages. Amen.

Mother Mary, you pray for me as your child. Thank you for welcoming me into the Holy Family. Pray for me

today that the feast of your birth may give great joy to my soul that I may increase my devotion to the Holy Family.

Dearest Mother, please pray for me and for these my intentions…
